Three unique “Only In New York” experiences – specially-priced tickets to the Tony-Award winning musical Nice Work If You Can Get It, a guided walking-tour of the High Line Park and free admission to the Museum of the City of New York – are just three of the special events offered during the summer edition of NY NOW®, the Market for Home & Lifestyle (formerly NYIGF®), August 17-21, 2013, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and Passenger Ship Terminal Pier 94.
“New York City itself is the biggest star of market week,” said Christian Falkenberg, NY NOW Director and GLM Senior Vice President. “These three special events will give NY NOW participants three completely different unique experiences which demonstrate the best characteristics of this city.”
NY NOW’s “Night on Broadway” featuring Nice Work If You Can Get It is a hilarious, Tony®-winning new musical comedy, bursting with girls, glamour and the glorious songs of Gershwin, including ‘S Wonderful, Someone to Watch Over Me and I’ve Got a Crush on You. Tickets for the Monday, August 19, performance, normally priced at $137, are specially priced at $89.50 each for NY NOW participants and can be purchased online, after May 1, at www.nynow.com/programs.
On Saturday, August 17, a special guided High Line walking tour, led by a professional landscape designer, will showcase this acclaimed urban garden and public park – opened in 2009 on an old elevated freight railroad trestle along Manhattan’s West Side. A limited number of tickets for this rain-or-shine event are available for a $35 minimum donation, with proceeds benefitting IFDA’s (International Furnishings & Design Association) Educational Foundation. Tickets may be purchased by contacting IFDA at 212-686-6020, or firstname.lastname@example.org.
NY Market participants can enjoy free admission to the Museum of the City of New York through cooperation between NY NOW and its permanent showroom partners. Founded in 1923, the Museum of the City of New York celebrates and interprets the city, educating the public about its distinctive character, especially its heritage of diversity, opportunity and perpetual transformation. On View during Market Week (August 16-21) is “Making Room: New Models for Housing New Yorkers,” which showcases innovative design solutions to better accommodate New York City’s changing, and sometimes surprising, demographics.
NY NOW, the Market for Home & Lifestyle, will run Saturday, August 17, through Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and Passenger Ship Terminal Pier 94. NY NOW’s four comprehensive collections – HOME, LIFESTYLE, HANDMADE and NEW! – will encompass 100,000 products in 400+ product categories. Some 35,000 attendees from all 50 states and more than 80 countries worldwide are expected. Information and registration is available online at www.nynow.com.
